U Community Solar

U Community Solar was brought to you by the Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU), the University of Utah Sustainability Office, and Utah Clean Energy.

U Community Solar was part of a larger campaign to help University of Utah communities access electricity generated from renewable sources. In 2005, the ASUU established a green power purchase fund to offset some of the University's electricity using wind-generated sources. In 2013, the U beat its conference rivals in the PAC-12 by using more than 93 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power, representing 31 percent of the school’s annual electricity usage.

Through U Community Solar, University of Utah offered members of the campus community a chance to power their homes with clean, renewable solar energy, produced by solar panels on your roof! Members of the University of Utah campus community were eligible for a substantial discount on the cost of rooftop solar and a streamlined, simplified solar installation process.
